This policy explains what Tanda collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Tanda is an independently developed, voice-first personal finance app. We keep data collection to what the app needs to work, and we state our practices plainly.
Information we collect
- Account and contact details. Your email address when you join the waitlist or create an account.
- Financial entries you create. The amounts, categories, merchants, dates, currencies, and budgets you log.
- Voice input. When you record an entry, your speech is turned into text. See the next section for how audio is handled.
- Device and diagnostic data. Basic information such as app version, device type, and crash logs, used to keep the app stable.
Voice and audio
You choose where your speech is processed. With on-device speech-to-text, your audio never leaves your phone. With cloud speech-to-text, audio is sent to a transcription provider to convert it to text. We do not store your audio recordings; the provider processes the audio only to return the transcript, under its own privacy terms. Only the resulting transcript text is used to parse your entry. We do not state that the app is "fully private"; we state exactly what happens with each choice.
How we use your information
- To parse spoken input into structured expenses and answer your questions.
- To store and sync your data and budgets across your devices, if you enable sync.
- To operate, secure, and improve the app, and to provide support.
- To process subscriptions and contact you about your account or launch.
We process this data to provide the app and its features (to perform our agreement with you), to keep the app secure and to improve it (our legitimate interests), and, where the law requires it, with your consent. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Where your data lives
Your entries are stored on your device. If you turn on sync, an encrypted copy is stored with our hosting provider so your data is available across your devices. You control whether sync is on.
Sharing and third parties
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers that help us run the app, under contract and only as needed:
- A speech-to-text provider, when you choose cloud transcription.
- An AI provider that parses transcript text into structured entries.
- Our hosting and database provider, for sync and waitlist storage.
- Apple, for subscription purchases and billing.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete individual entries in the app at any time, and you can delete your entire account and its synced data. See the Support page for how to delete your account, or email [email protected]. We remove your data within 30 days of a deletion request, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal obligations.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and for synced data at rest. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children
Tanda is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will revise the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
